The list below is the collection of the most prominent and catastrophic computer viruses malwares the computer world has ever faced and discovered. Internet technology has become the most important thing in our day to day life but it has also increased the threat to our privacy as our computer systems has also a prime target for hackers and crackers around the world. These notorious computer viruses have already caused a lot of damage in real life along with the billions of dollars and disrupting critical real life infrastructure.

  1. ILOVE YOU: It was first detected in Philippines in the year of 2000. Two Filipino programmers, Reonel Ramones and Onel de Guzman were responsible for creating this virus. Many people used to receive an email stating ILOVE YOU as a subject along with a love letter kind of an attachment attached to that which actually was a VB script, when opened, it unleashed a malicious program that overwrote the users’ image files and even sometimes making the computer unbootable as well. Because there was no law about malwares at that time the two wereneither charged with the offence. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $10 billion.

  1. CODE RED: It was first discovered by two eEye Digital Security employees in the year 2001. Later they named the virus Code Red as at the time of discovery of that virus both of them were drinking Code Red Mountain Dew. This virus used to select 100 IP addresses randomly, scanned the computers for the Microsoft system and then spreading only to those computers. It used to make hundreds of copies of itself s and damaged the computer systems machines running Windows 2000 and Windows NT. This virus forced White House and other government agencies to take temporarily down their public websites for some time. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $2.6 billion.

MYDOOM: This virus was discovered in year 2004.It was the fastest spreading email worm since ILOVEYOU virus was found in the year 2000.it used to spread through email as what appeared to be a bounced message “Mail Transaction Failed.”It is believed that the creator was paid to create it since it contains the text message, “andy; I’m just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry,” When people used to open their emails containing this virus the malicious code downloaded itself and  resulting in damaging victim’s Outlook address book as well the computer system files. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $38.5

  1. MELISSA: This Virus was founded in the year of 1999 in the form of an infected word file. The file was posted up on the alt.sex usenet group, claiming to be a list of passwords for pornographic sites.The virus used to mail itself the top 50 people in the user’s email address book resulting in increase in email traffic and corrupting the email servers. David L. Smith was the creator of this virus and was caught by the FBI. Later he cooperated with the FBI in capturing other virus creators which helped him to serve only 20 months of his total 10 years of sentence. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $400 million.

  1. ZEUS: This virus was founded in the year of 2009.these viruses infected computer systems either through drive-by downloads or phishing scams . Thousands of FTP accounts and computerswere compromised with this virus in the year of 2009 itself including large multinational corporations and banks such as Amazon, Oracle, Bank of America, Cisco, etc. It used to corrupt the windows users so that they can perform criminal activities like stealing the login credentials of social network, email and banking accounts. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $70 million.


  1. SLAMMER: It was found in the year 2003, which used to spread though network using data packets while transferring data online. It also used to bring the net on many servers to a near screeching halt. It used to select IP address randomly to infect the computer systems. The unique thing with this virus was that it used to get doubled in size every 8.5 seconds. Bank of Americas ATM was one of the Vitim of this virus. This virus caused total damages that amounted to over $1,200,000,000.

SASSER: Sven Jaschan a computer science student discovered this virus in the year 2004.this virus ones activated used to slow down and even crashes the computer with only option left to cut the power and reset the computer. It damages the registries of the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS), which controls the security policy of local account in the computer system. Sometimes a “don’t send error screen” popup comes to the screen to highlight the virus infection. This infection was mainly founded in corporate business of airlines, news agencies, public transportation, hospitals, public transport, etc who all were victim of this virus in that year. The amount starts from$100 and keeps on increasing if the amount was not paid within the deadline of time through prepaid and bitcoin. CryptXXX ransomware Updates itself

The Hackers behind the CryptXXX ransomeware  have updated their code to a new version 3.0 in order to stop Kaspersky's Rannoh Decryptor from Decrypting files for free.  
Kaspersky's decrypter used to decrypt files for free but since this update by CryptXXX  its unable to decrypt the files for free.  We must never pay the Ransomeware and wait for kaspersky to update their antivirus.  For prevention keep using data back up from time to time.

Another Ransomeware hits the computers as scammers have made loads of money they keep on innovating and minting money via new Ransomewares every other day.  We must learn to fight them back by never paying and learning to remove yourself.  The moment you guys stop paying these virus will vanish.  CryptXXX is a latest of Windows ransomwares infection  found in April 2016.  It affects all versions of windows.  When a computer is is infected they will have their files encrypted and they will ask for about 2.4 bitcoins, or approximately $1000 USD for the decryption key.
It changes the wallpaper to their ransome note and all files and programs gets encrypted.  One is not able to work on its computer without the decryption key.  So now a days its important to keep a data back of your important work and data.

Important recommendation nowadays is to always keep data back up as prevention is better than cure.
When the message of ransom appears the damage is already done by the virus.  Always shutdown or disconnect your internet right away.  We must never pay the hackers and run antivirus scan immediately.

Moneypak Locked your pc but its actually a ransomeware virus called Reveton Virus.  This will lock your computer giving our different Government Authorities name like FBI, CyberCrime, Department of Defence, Department of Justice, etc.  But it can be easily removed using try following these steps.


  1. Restart  your infected PC to 'Safe mode with Networking' to disable FBI virus (this should be working with all versions of this threat)
  2. In Search Just type in restore.
  3. Now Restore computer to a date before the date your PC locked by Fbi. 
  4. Pc will reboot automatically and run Malwarebytes to clean computer.

Once Malwarebytes stops cleaing the computer just reboot and it should be good to go.

Case 1 :- 

ICE Cybercrime Division Virus can be removed easily by 

Simple tap F8 and select "Safe Mood with Networking"

Download Malwarebytes and run a quick scan. Then qurantine all the found trojans.

Reboot

It should be all safe then yes

Case 2:- 
Now when the computer is not going in to safe mood with networking and it restarts......

You need to simple download Malwarebytes and make a flash drive (Usb drive) bootable...

Now tap F12 on restart..........note you donot have to wait for windows to load files....just the moment computer start doing... F12-tap tap tap on it

Now select booting from the USB -- install and run the Malwarebytes it will remove the virus and hurray...

  Don't worry its a ransomeware called Reveton.  Don't ever try to pay money to these guys as its a scam.  These guys will charge you money via Moneypak mostly they ask for $200 or $300.  FBI never Locked your PC its a scam which just wana make money from your using scare tactics.  Now what to do when you think Fbi has locked your PC, first never pay scammers, second find methods to unlock the PC on your own.  Start following these steps mentioned below :-


  1. Restart  your infected PC to 'Safe mode with Networking' to disable FBI virus (this should be working with all versions of this threat)
